This is due to the release of the [Ubuntu 22.04 image as default](https://github.com/actions/runner-images/releases/tag/ubuntu22%2F20221119.2). The CRAN version of {remotes} (released last year) does not have the 22.04 version, which was added in April 2022: r-lib/remotes#705

This is ugly, but it should work this will further address r-lib/remotes#705 until it is released
