setting up virtual serial port with SimulIDE and KTechLab

Considering that many of our users might not have access to the hardware required to follow the tutorials it would be very beneficial to be able to virtualize the hardware using KTechLab or SimulIDE. For Windows and SimulIDE I have already described the instructions here. we need to find the proper way of doing this also for Linux and macOS.
