My university does not offer a traditional student card. I cant reapply with current website!!

Hi,
I'm a PhD candidate at Erasmus University Rotterdam, and we dont have a traditional student ID. We have everything digital. Can we have a upload file where I upload my letter of enrolment. Or can we have an automatic system where it connects to my university account and authorize me?

Thanks for raising this — your situation is completely understandable.

At the moment, GitHub’s student verification system only accepts the specific document types listed in the application flow (e.g., traditional student IDs). Uploading other documents, such as digital enrollment letters, isn’t supported, and there is no automatic integration with university accounts.

If your university doesn’t issue a physical student ID, the best option is to contact GitHub Education Support directly:
https://support.github.com/contact

Choose GitHub Education and attach your digital enrollment letter or any other official document that proves your active student status. The Education team can review it manually and approve your application if it meets their requirements.

Several students from universities with digital-only systems have been verified this way, so it’s definitely possible — it just requires manual review.

Thanks for response. I went to the link, it says "Individual manual reviews and status updates are no longer provided." for anything regarding "status of Github education" and/or "application not approved".

Should I choose another option?

Hi @Mrgr4vity,

Documents that prove your current student status include a picture of your school ID with current enrollment date, class schedule, transcript, and affiliation or enrollment verification letter.

So you can try with any of the above documents or anything that can prove your current student status.

Make sure to fill in your billing info and GitHub profile with your full name exactly as it appears on your academic transcript. Then log out and log back into GitHub before reapplying, because the application system gets stuck in a loop even after the required information has been updated.

If you still get rejected, submit the application using another device, such as a smartphone or another PC.

If none of the above works, I recommend you contact support by opening a ticket here, select "Other" and explain your problem.
