Hi everyone, I’m having an issue where my Codespace is completely locked due to a billing authorization error — even though my payment did go through successfully.
Here’s what happened:
My first payment attempt failed with an authorization error.
I retried using another card.
This time the payment succeeded (the charge appears on my bank statement).
However, GitHub still shows “Invalid payment method – authorization hold failed.”
Because of this, my Codespace is frozen and I can’t commit or push any of my work.
The “Code” button also still shows old timestamps (e.g., “updated 19h ago”), confirming the workspace is stuck in a locked state.
I’ve checked the Billing > Usage page and can see that usage charges are appearing correctly (e.g., Codespaces storage usage $1.54), so my account definitely processed the payment — but the billing system hasn’t updated my authorization status.
I believe my account is stuck in a billing sync error, where GitHub’s system didn’t update the internal state after a successful charge.
