I'd like to provide feedback regarding the code editor experience in the GitHub Mobile app. Currently, the absence of syntax highlighting in the code editor creates several usability issues:
Given that GitHub is a platform built for developers, it's surprising that the mobile experience lacks such a fundamental feature that's standard in every code editor and IDE. Syntax highlighting is essential for efficient code reading, editing, and review processes - especially when developers need to quickly check or edit code while mobile.
Suggested Improvement:
Please implement syntax highlighting in the GitHub Mobile code editor, similar to what's available on the desktop web version. This would significantly improve the mobile development experience and align with GitHub's commitment to developer productivity.
Thank you for considering this enhancement to make GitHub Mobile more developer-friendly.
Subject: Syntax Highlighting Missing in GitHub Mobile Code Editor
The lack of syntax highlighting in GitHub Mobile's code editor makes code difficult to read and edit. Code appears as plain, monochromatic text which:
· Reduces readability and code comprehension
· Makes the interface look unpolished
· Doesn't meet developer expectations for a code viewing platform
As GitHub is a developer-focused platform, implementing syntax highlighting in the mobile app would greatly improve the code review and editing experience on-the-go
Wouldn't it be amazing to add the syntax highlighting used in code review to the code editor?
This would significantly improve the mobile coding experience.
Syntax highlighting is missing in GitHub Mobile's code editor. Adding the same beautiful syntax colors from code review to the editor would be amazing for mobile developers!
