I have the same problem, I think it's due to getting a notification from a repository belonging to a banned account.

In my case, the pending notification is from ycombinatorrr/ycombinator-notification, which looks like it was a phishing attack pretending to be ycombinator. From your screenshot, it looks like a similar situation.

This is really annoying because now my notification indicator is always active, so I always have to check it in case I have important updates from my team, even if I don't. I hope this gets fixed soon.

Same here. A notification count from plasma-network/plasma.to will not disappear. Received an email notification as well, and I can confirm it’s a spam.

Unfortunately, this is a known bug in GitHub notifications and hopefully they'll solve it soon.

1 works only if you have 25 notifications. For me, 2 worked (with the devtools code).
