Steps to reproduce

• Open the command palette using the shortcut Super + Shift + J

Actual Behavior

When the command palette opens, the > symbol in the search field is automatically selected. As soon as you start typing, the > is deleted, causing the palette to exit command mode and perform a regular note search instead.

Expected Behavior

The cursor should be placed after the > symbol so that typing immediately triggers command search mode rather than note search.

The root cause is that when the command palette opens, the input field selects the entire text (including the > symbol), so your first keystroke overwrites it and exits command mode. This behavior is set in the JumpToNoteDialogComponent—specifically, the onShown logic triggers both focus and select on the input, which highlights the > symbol instead of placing the cursor after it. There’s no code that moves the cursor after the > symbol, which matches what you’re seeing in the codebase.

A recent PR (#6491, merged after your version) made significant updates to the command palette, including changes to the dialog and input handling. It’s likely this issue has been improved or fixed in newer releases see PR details.

If you’re unable to upgrade, you can fix this by adjusting the dialog logic: instead of selecting the whole input on show, move the cursor to the end of the text when in command mode. This change should be made in the onShown handler of JumpToNoteDialogComponent.
